How to Bid

The ‘getting started guide’ to our auction platform.

Steps on how to Bid

Before you can bid, you must have a registered profile on the site.
  1. Visit the RMG Auctions Lot List.
  2. Look for a "Login / Register" button (usually located in the top right corner).
  3. Click "Register" and fill in your details (Name, Email, Password, and Phone Number).
  4. Verify your email: Check your inbox for a verification link to activate your account.
Creating an account is not the same as being cleared to bid. You must register for each individual auction event.
  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Select the auction you are interested in from the Auction List.
  3. Click the "Register to Bid" button.
  4. Accept Terms & Conditions: Read and tick the box for the "Rules of Auction."
  5. FICA/Documentation: Depending on the auction, you may be prompted to upload your ID and Proof of Residence (FICA documents) and pay a refundable registration deposit.
  1. Go to the Lot List.
  2. Use the search bar or categories to find specific items.
  3. Click the Star icon or "Watch" button on a lot to save it to your "Watchlist" for easy tracking under your profile.
Live Bidding (Real-time)
  • Once the auction is "Live," a "Bid [Amount]" button will appear on the lot.
  • Clicking this button places a bid at the next required increment.
  • The system will immediately show a message: "You are the high bidder" (in green) or "You have been outbid" (in red).
  • If a bid is placed within the final minutes (usually the last 2 minutes) of a lot closing, the clock for that specific lot will reset/extend for another 2 minutes.
  • This continues until all bidding activity stops, preventing "sniping" at the last second.
  1. If you are the highest bidder when the clock hits zero, you will receive an automated email notification titled "Winning Bidder Notification."
  2. Go to your "My Account" section and look for "Invoices" or "Unpaid Lots."
  3. Follow the instructions for EFT payment. Note that a "Buyer’s Premium" (a percentage fee added to the hammer price) and VAT usually apply.
